Jean Cocteau "Visage en V" - Boutons de manchettes
Each piece bears at the back:
- the Master Goldsmith hallmark
- the State hallmark
- the Reference number (1495)
- the hallmark signature of the Artist
It was after the war during the 1960s that François Hugo, on the strength of his meetings with Picasso and Max Ernst, and proud of his new status as a producer of sculpture to wear, that he made contact with Cocteau for the second time.
The two men were happy to meet again, and the prolific Cocteau gave many drawings to François Hugo from which a series of pieces was born, combining the sobriety of 23 carat gold with other more linear pieces in 18 carat gold encrusted with precious stones.
Each jewel bears the artist's signature mark on the back, together with the reference number and workshop item number, the numerator, the craftsman's mark from the workshop and the State hallmark. All theses references are entered on a certificate of authenticity delivered with the jewel.
Editions that are still available are manufactured in the Ateliers Hugo workshop in Aix-en-Provence.
