Apnée, one breath for the oceans
The Gentler wants you to discover its favorites among the brands whose positive impact on sustainable development stimulates us to consume less and consume better: Responsible brands that prove their commitment, which we have the pleasure of discovering through our encounters. Ultimately, we want to commit ourselves to supporting these brands that do good, and want to encourage you to follow us in this new way of consuming.
In this first episode, The Gentler went to meet Apnée, a young French brand of men's swimwear, inspired by the pioneers of free diving and heroes of the Big Blue that we had the pleasure of discovering a few months ago. Apnée is definitely one of those brands that have that "je ne sais quoi" and that we would like to (re)introduce to you.
Its two founders Marion and Sebastien had the idea to create a brand in alignment with their passion for the sea bed and their commitment to always being more responsible. This idea matured over the course of their travels and turned into a desire: to transcribe the magnificence of the oceans through men's swimwear. Thus was born in 2017 Apnée, an accessible and elegant brand composed of timeless and high-end pieces.
The brand is now in the hands of the charming Laetitia and her team. Building on her experience gained as General Manager in major luxury houses, Laetitia plunged into the Apnée adventure two years ago to continue developing the brand and has since multiplied the number of partnerships at Apnée (the latest with eco-responsible luxury hotels, Six Senses).

Ecology and the protection of the Big Blue continue to be at the center of the concerns of the French brand and guide the daily creative approach of the young woman who offers new timeless pieces with a commitment to responsibility, season after season. Recently, the brand has also turned its sights to innovation by wanting to give marine waste a second life through the co-development of a 100% recycled fabric that serves as the basis of its printed collection, inspired by the depths of the sea. This is how their new swimsuits end up being 100% recycled from plastic waste collected from the Mediterranean Sea and its beaches!

Beyond technical innovation, Apnée has also joined forces with Surfrider, an association created by a group of surfers in 1990. Today it is one of the most active European organisations in the fight against ocean pollution that is looking to change people's mentality by raising public awareness against the overproduction and use of single-use plastics.
Apnée has been laser focused on building unique know-how with an attention to detail for making swimsuits with a perfect fit, with perfectly balanced proportions, an elegant cut and meticulous finishes.
What convinced us? The Apnée stopover in our beloved city of Marseille. Through its instagram account Apnée made us rediscover the heavenly creeks, the garrigue, the fishermen's huts which remind us that summer is round the corner...
More than the know-how and the attention to detail, Apnée is a state of mind that very much resonates with The Gentler!
